A logbook or scheduled service is when your vehicle is serviced at the nominated interval in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Your vehicle does not have to be serviced by a dealer during the new car warranty period; the ACCC has confirmed that independent repairers like Midas may sign or stamp your service logbook without affecting your statutory warranty providing the repairer is qualified, follows the manufacturer’s requirements and uses products that meet the original specification. For more information regarding consumer rights and servicing vehicles under warranty, please read this information booklet from the Australia Automotive Aftermarket Association.
What is a Logbook Service?
A logbook service is a scheduled maintenance procedure outlined by your car’s manufacturer. It ensures your vehicle receives the specific checks, oil changes, and parts replacements it needs at critical intervals. Regular logbook servicing is essential for maintaining your car’s warranty, optimising performance, and promoting long-term reliability.
Do I need a logbook service or a basic service?
A logbook service differs from a basic car service as it follows the specific guidelines outlined in the logbook. This is especially important if your vehicle is still covered under warranty, as a logbook service follows the manufacturer’s procedures and validates the warranty. If your car is no longer under warranty, then a basic service may be ideal for you.
Our logbook service includes all parts, oils and scheduled service items, including a Midas safety check and vehicle inspection report. Not only are they great value for money, but you also have the added convenience of maintaining your vehicle at your local Midas workshop.

Logbook Service Verification – Terms & Conditions
A general service may not qualify for logbook verification. Midas will only stamp your vehicle logbook (handbook) where the service has been conducted or supervised by qualified staff according to the manufacturer’s specifications using parts, oils and fluids that meet or exceed the original specification and are fit for purpose. Where manufacturers require online service verification and restrict access to aftermarket repairers, Midas will provide documentation of work performed.

FAQs
Do I need a logbook service or a basic car service?
This depends entirely on your vehicle. A logbook service is ideal if your car is still covered under warranty, as it follows the manufacturer’s guidelines to a tee, ensuring your warranty is valid. If, however, your car is no longer under warranty, a basic service takes into consideration the entire condition of your vehicle and may include repairs if necessary.
How often should I get a full service for my car?
For newer vehicles, we recommend servicing at the interval recommended by the manufacturer. Older vehicles, and those regularly driven on rough terrain should be serviced more frequently: we recommend every three months, or 5,000km.
What do I do in case of a problem/if an issue persists?
A regular logbook service can help detect any abnormalities with your vehicle’s performance before it becomes worse. If the issue persists, get in touch with the expert car mechanics at Midas, who can perform a full inspection and recommend the best course of action.
